History Of Establishment

Treasury of the State of Kedah Darul Aman commenced operations with the establishment of the State Treasury on 3 August 1905 and placed in a large Hall, Alor Star. The first State Treasury officer named Syed Abdullah Al Mahdali and he was under the authority of the State Financial Officer, namely, Mr. W.J. Williamson. The State Treasury play an important role in the pre independence era to provide financial management services and the operation of State Government accounting.

In 1909, the State Treasury moved to the building that currently houses the State Art Gallery. In 1972 it transferred to Wan Mat Saman. By 1981 it moved anyway to Bangunan Sultan Abdul Halim and attached to the 11th floor of the building. In 1995 it moved to Wisma Negeri until today.

In 2003, restructuring the financial and organizational structure of the Treasury Office of Kedah have been implemented. The restructuring has further with the approval of the establishment by the JPA in accordance with staffing which has warrants effective from January 2004. After the restructuring, the financial and organizational structure of the State Treasury Office are as follows:-

• Units of analysis and monitoring of Investment
